Flu Review - These Toxic Things by Rachael Howzell Hall

These Toxic Things follows Mickie Lambert, a digital archaeologist who archives people’s lives through online scrapbooks. Mickie is ending her relationship with her boss, but agrees to take one a new client. Nadia Denham owns and operates a thrift store in L.A., and she wants to preserve her memories as she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Nadia provides 12 items for Mickie to archive, but just as Mickie begins Nadia’s digital scrapbook, Nadia is found dead in the apartment above her store.

Mickie, suspecting foul play, decides to keep archiving Nadia’s treasures, and what she uncovers will shock her. Someone wants those treasures to remain hidden and they will come after Mickie until she agrees to stop investigating. Now Mickie is fleeing from a stalker, but she remains determined to find out the answers to Nadia’s life.

These Toxic Things is full of twists and turns, but the plot is not complicated. This would be a good book to kill a raining weekend or pass time at the airport or on a road trip.
