Elizabeth Musser tells an intriguing story that includes a unique blend of murder mystery, family secrets, broken families and a desperate parent.

Josephine, a well-loved author, lies comatose in the hospital after an apparent assassination attempt, wondering if her well-kept secret of ‘The Awful Year’ will ever be told.  Meanwhile, her family begins searching her fan mail in hopes of finding a clue to who might want her dead, frequently alluding to ‘The Awful Year’ as well.

While family, friends & fans all over the world are praying for Josephine’s healing, her would-be assassin is trying to figure out how to finish the kill.  Unless Josephine dies, he won’t get the 2^nd half of the murder-for-hire fee and his little boy won’t get the heart surgery he desperately needs. 

The author highlights the theme of God’s love and grace for even the most unlovable, gently including those struggling with mental illness.
