Flu Review - Very Bad People by Kit Frick

If you like the dark academia literature genre of Karen McMannus or Mindy McGinnis, check out Kit Frick’s latest novel, Very Bad People. Frick, the author of I Killed Zoe Spanos, is back again with a twisty thriller set on an elite boarding school campus.

Calliope’s life has not been the same since her mother died in a car accident six years ago. An accident where Calliope was also involved, but has since been blocked from her memory. In an effort to get away from her small town with the gossip and stares, Calliope enrolls in an elite boarding school a few hours away - the same school her mother attended as a teen.

Once at her new school, Calliope is inducted into a secret society called Haunt and Rail whose motive is to affect positive change on campus - using any means necessary. But things are not as they seem. Calliope discovers that her mother was also a member of Haunt and Rail…during a year where a mysterious death occurred on campus. Can Calliope figure out a decades old mystery in order to prevent a modern-day one?
