Flu Review - Part of Your World by Abby Jimenez

Wow! What a great read. Abby Jimenez tackles the harsh topic of abuse (including mental and emotional abuse) and does it with such grace and dignity. She never romanticizes the abuse and constantly advocates for therapy and leaving the abuser. Even when the abuser gets help, she allows the abused character to acknowledge that the abuser got help but the character who lived with that abuse moves on and finds a better life.

The love story between Alexis and Daniel was beautiful. There was magic involved and chemistry, but there was also a great man in Daniel. He seems like a dream; always wanting to help Alexis and take care of her, he’s funny and charming and everyone loves him. The best part of Daniel is that even though he’s fictitious, he’s not an unachievable person. Like real life men should look at him as a role model and emulate Daniel. You can be this guy and this guy is what a lot of women want. Be a truly nice person and people will come to you. Alexis’s character was also great because here she is a doctor with money and brains and beauty and she fell for an abuser. We get to watch her grow out of that relationship and find her own fulfillment and life and Daniel helps her with that. He doesn’t fix her, she fixes herself through therapy and self love, but he’s a support when she doesn’t have a lot of support around. They make each other better and that’s the real fairy tale ending we want.

I will be recommending this book for a long time to come, so look out library patrons because I will be pointing you to this book.
