The Keeper of Happy Endings is one of those slow start books that builds into a beautiful tale that you will want to keep going back to read. The story begins in 1980, with a young woman named Rory Grant whose fiancé is missing in Sudan. She is struggling to cope with the fear that he is lost forever, but she decides that while she is waiting, she will begin to build her art studio to keep the promise she made with her fiancé. She finds the perfect property, and leases the building from an elderly recluse named Soline Roussel.

Soline, born into a mystical family in France, was raised to bring others happy endings.  For generations her family has kept an exclusive bridal salon in Paris, where magic is worked with needle and thread. It’s said that the bride who wears a Roussel gown is guaranteed a lifetime of joy. However, the Nazis destroyed her family’s business when they conquered France. Soline, fighting with the French resistance, experienced absolute heartbreak during the War and with the fire that burned down her bridal shop in America, and now she just wants to live her remaining days alone. Rory, though, befriends Soline and together they work to heal their pain.

This is a story that will tug at your heart strings and make you believe in the power of love, friendship, and magic.
