Flu Review - Swiss Vendetta by Tracee de Hahn

This story opens with an introduction to the main character, Agnes Luthi.  She is a Swiss-American Police officer that has experienced recent tragedy and is trying to power through her grief.  She is called out on a sudden case in the middle of the worst storm Lausanne has seen in many years.  As Agnes struggles to keep her head in the game, she comes face to face with her own loss and has to find a way to reconcile herself with the dark secrets surrounding the events that changed her life and her sons lives forever.

The first thing that attracted me to this book was the cover.  Anyone who knows me is aware that a good cover will pull me in right away.  Next, I read the synopsis and was intrigued.  As it turns out, this is a good read.  The atmosphere of the freezing weather is very real to the reader.  I had to grab a fuzzy blanket to stay warm.  The mystery itself is well developed and I wasn’t sure where it was going at first, but it has an unusual twist.  

There is a fairly descriptive place in the middle of the book as one of the characters is a survivor of the World War II.  He elaborates on the horrors he endured and could be a bit disturbing.  Also, the ending is a little sad and very realistic, but I found there was enough closure to bring a warm satisfaction to the reader, and room for a sequel.  I would give it 4 out of 5 stars.
