Warsaw Community Public Library provides the community with countless of new DVD/Blu-ray movie releases. Here are a few recently added to our collection.

"Aquaman" is as exciting, fun and colorful as it is epic in conflict and destruction. James Wan's film is the first Aquaman film in the DC Extended Universe film franchise. The film's plot alternates between flashbacks and events set in the present day. Jason Momoa as Aquaman has come a long way from his Baywatch and Conan days. Momoa is hot and motivates the movie. "Aquaman" is a fun popcorn flick, far less serious and dark in tone compared to the rest of the DC films.

"A Star is born" portrays the rise, fall, and struggles of artists. This fourth version of the film is a passionate tale of Jack and Ally, two artistic souls coming together, on stage and in life. Theirs is a complex journey through the beauty and the heartbreak of a relationship struggling to survive. The cast led by Lady Gaga (in a breakout performance as Ally) & Bradley Cooper (director, producer and co-writer, as Jackson) is brilliant. This version with its enthralling romantic tear-jerking concert film does not disappoint.

"Green book" is a film inspired by a true friendship that transcended race, class and the 1962 Mason-Dixon Line. Frank, "Tony Lip", Vallelonga (Viggo Mortensen) is a bouncer from the Bronx who is hired to drive Dr. Don Shirley (Mahershala Ali), a world class black pianist, on a concert tour from Manhattan to the Deep South. These two must rely on "The Green Book", a guide that provides a black traveler in how to safely navigate the highways and byways of the Jim Crow South. This unlikely pair are able to look past each other's inadequacies and learn to value, even cherish their individual virtues and strengths. As Vallelonga observes to Shirley during a reflective moment, "The world's full of lonely people scared to make the first move." "Green Book "is a heartwarming reflection on the nature of adult friendship during troubled times in an impersonal and sometimes hostile world. It is worthy of its Oscar win for best picture 2018.
