Flu Review - Strange Planet by Nathan Pyle

If you haven’t seen a Strange Planet cartoon, my guess is that you’ve never been online. These strange looking blue life forms have taken the internet by storm and the comic strips have found their way into every social media outlet known to man.  Universally enjoyed, these comics are brilliantly insightful slice-of-life portrayals of normal human experiences, viewed objectively and without social or cultural context - often resulting in hilarity.

The beauty of these comics is that, from a certain point of view, many mundane human actions and interactions seem counterintuitive, hypocritical, or pointless. Also, many beloved traditions, items, and even foods, when described completely objectively are rather strange. Why do we kill plants to show our affection for a loved one (sending flowers)? Or bring sweet dough disks to life forms who move into close proximity to ourselves (take cookies to the new neighbors)? The answers to these questions plus many more can be found in the pages of this book!

Overall, I highly recommend this title as a fun, quick read to anyone who doesn’t take life too seriously!
