Calligraphy Class (2 part class)

1st Class: Learn ornamental lines resembling the flourishes of ornate or decorated hand writing. You can write a beautiful verse or send a fancy hand written card after taking this class. Bring a couple of ideas of something, you'd like to write, like a verse or poem. A fee of $5 will be taken in the class.
2nd Class: Bring stamps and inkpads or something similar to this second class if you would like to embellish your project.

Writing the Picture Book

The workshop includes: the nuts and bolts of writing a picture book, looking at genres, the language, techniques and tips for writing, revision, word count, illustrations, market research, and how to submit your manuscript.
The presenter, Peggy Archer, has been writing for children for three decades. Her work for children includes fiction, nonfiction, and poetry, and has appeared in BabyBug, LadyBug, Children's Playmate, Humpty Dumpty, Highlights for Children, Turtle, Instructor, and Wee Wisdom. Published books include "Turkey Surprise" which appeared on the NY Times Bestsellers List and "One for the Family". "Name that Dog" will be published in 2010.

Become a "follower" of the WCPL Teen Blog and receive a free calendar. Each 2010 calendar has awesome pictures of the Twilight cast. Only the first 48 teens will receive a calendar.

then TAB is right for you! The Teen Advisory Board is a group of
volunteering teenagers who want to make the library their own. We meet
monthly to discuss events, books, programs, and our ideas for the teens
