E-books
E-books are simply books that are available in an electronic format. Some e-books need to be downloaded to a special hand-held device while others can be read online on any regular personal computer. Our collection of e-books is available through NetLibrary at www.netlibrary.com. You do not need a special hand-held device to read them, but you must have a valid library card and you need to register for the service at the Library. Once you establish an account, you may access and read the e-books on any personal computer with Internet access.
Currently, our e-book collection is largely composed of nonfiction titles, classic fiction titles, and a wide assortment of Cliffs Notes. The e-books are included in our Public Catalog with a location of “Ask at Reference Desk, ACCESS THRU INTERNET.” Once you have located a title, go to the NetLibrary website and enter that same title in the search field. You can then read the e-book online. A complete list of titles may also be found by clicking on the “What’s Available” tab at NetLibrary.
Short, step-by-step instructions for accessing e-books are available on NetLibrary’s website and at the WCPL Reference Desk. |
